Curtis Hagert, 77, passed away June 14, 2022, at Northwood Deaconess Hospital.
Curtis was born August 30, 1944, in Northwood to Curtis Sr. and Charlotte (Dale) Hagert. He grew up in rural Emerado, Pleasant View Township. Curtis graduated from Larimore High School in 1962 then attended NDSU before attending NDSCS in Wahpeton.
He moved out to Seattle where he worked in construction for awhile before moving to Colorado for a short time. He then moved back to Emerado and began farming.
Curtis married Roberta (Bohnsack) Drees on January 18, 1974. Roberta had two sons from her first marriage, David Drees of West Fargo, ND, and Keith Drees of Emerado, ND who Curtis loved as his own. They were also blessed with the births of Jared Hagert and Joleen (Hagert) Hauge.
Education was important to Curtis, and he served two seperate times on the Emerado School Board. He was a founding member of the North Dakota Soybean Growers Association, and was a member of the North Dakota Soybean Council, the Emerado Elevator Board, the Pleasant View Township Board, he was an Elder at the Emerado Presbyterian Church, and helped Roberta with Emerado Community Garden. With the help of Roberta, they started Hagert Seed Plant.
Curtis loved to go fast, racing snowmobiles and go carts. He also loved to watch Nascar and attending Nascar races. All visitors to the farm were welcome and Curtis made sure they had a fun time. He enjoyed going on “crop tours”, and spending time with his family.
Curtis is survived by his sons: David (Angie) Drees, Keith (LeeIla) Drees, Jared (Brandie) Hagert; son-in-law Jamie Hauge; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; siblings: Sandra (Robert) Walters, Joanne (Myron) Larson, David (Karen) Hagert, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 48 years Roberta, daughter Joleen, and his brother Robert.
Memorial service will be held June 20, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Amundson Funeral Home
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
