Corrine M. Sinclair, 95, of Grand Forks, ND died June 25, 2021 at 2:28 AM at Valley Senior Living Center in Grand Forks, ND.
Corrine Berg was born March 7, 1926, in Mayville, ND to Gilbert and Clara (Hefta) Berg. She grew up in Mayville and graduated from Mayville High School in 1944. She attended the University of North Dakota for one year, but graduated from Mayville State Teachers College, with her future husband, in 1948.
Corrine began her career in education at New Rockford, teaching high school English. She married Norman Sinclair on August 7, 1949, who was teaching in nearby Carrington. The couple moved to Bottineau for a year and later to Langdon, always with teaching positions, before finally settling in Grand Forks and starting a family. Corrine’s husband accepted a job at South Junior High School where he taught math for 30 years, until his retirement. Corrine was a conscientious homemaker with three children to care for. She returned to the teaching profession in 1963 when her youngest child entered school and continued for 24 years at Valley Junior High, teaching English, Social Studies and Typing retiring in 1987.
Corrine was an active 60-year member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (choir, chancel guild, and many other activities). She was also a member of numerous bridge clubs. She learned to play golf at age 50 and enjoyed winter vacations in Myrtle Beach, SC for nearly 20 years. In her early retirement years, she and her husband worked as jury bailiffs in the Grand Forks County court system. Afterwards, they spent much of their retirement traveling to national parks in the US and Canada, while visiting their grown children along the way. Corrine was an avid reader, loved the game show Jeopardy, and was a pro at crossword and scrambled word puzzles. She was an extreme bargain shopper, an expert on clothing alteration, and a wonderful knitter. The local hospital has been the recipient of hundreds of her soft, hand-made baby hats.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Leonard) Bina of Grand Forks; her three children, Mary (Lee) Sorenson, Pekin, IL, Ann (Tom) Rupiper, Hamilton, MT, John (Dorann) Sinclair, Stillwater, MN; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Corrine was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, who passed away in 2010, her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Gerald Johnson and her parents.
