Colleen Agnes Fischer, 59, of Thompson, ND, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 19, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle against ovarian cancer.
She was born on March 17, 1962, in Grand Forks, ND, to Robert and Alvina Klamm. She attended school and graduated from Northwood, ND, where she met the love of her life, Curtis Fischer. They were united in marriage on September 15, 1984. They made their home in Thompson, ND, where they raised two children, Kristen and Kaylyn. She worked at Altru for 29 years and at the North Dakota Eye Clinic for the last four years, both located in Grand Forks, ND.
Colleen was known for her commitment to her faith, family, and friends. Growing up and for many years into her adult life she attended and was a member of Holmes United Methodist Church in Reynolds, ND. There she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She had a beautiful alto voice and frequently sang in the choir, as a trio, and for the church’s live nativity. For the last several years, she attended and was a member of Hope Church in Grand Forks. There she connected with new church members to help them feel welcomed and supported and helped with many other church events. Her faith was very important to her and helped give her the strength she needed to fight her cancer and in the end the peace of knowing she would be in heaven with her Lord and Savior.
She was incredibly committed to her family and friends. Having the titles of wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend provided her with significant joy as they connected her to the people who gave her those titles. She especially loved spending time with family and friends and giving and receiving hugs from them. You could not attend a family gathering without getting a hug from her. Her care, support, and commitment to her family and friends is irreplaceable.
She will be remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 36 years, Curtis Fischer; daughters Kristen (Michael) Kaiser and Kaylyn (Joe) Koteles; grandchildren Camden, Claire and Chloe Kaiser; siblings Ellen (Larry) Leake, Larry (Vickie) Klamm, Jim (Mary) Klamm, John (Sharon) Klamm, Marvin (Diane) Klamm, Marilyn (Brian) Riegel, Neal Klamm, Calvin Klamm, Dennis (Sharon) Klamm, Charlotte (Scott) Clayton, and Sharon (Blaine) Solheim; sister-in law Debbie (Russ) Jensen; brother-in law Orris Johnson; 27 nieces and nephews; 39 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Alvina Klamm; mother-in-law and step father-in-law Donna and Paul White and father-in-law Marvin Fischer; brother Leon Klamm; sister Joyce Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Linda Klamm and Roberta Klamm.
