Clifford Harry Horner, age 85 passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Clifford "Tip" Horner was born April 11, 1937, to Clyde M. and Lillie A. (Kvalevog) Horner in Rock Lake, North Dakota.  Clifford grew up and attended school in Rock Lake, where he played basketball and graduated in 1955. 

Clifford married Ramona Urness on December 28, 1962, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake.  They have two daughters:  Joni and Sandra.  Clifford and Ramona lived in Grand Forks, North Dakota; Ft. Worth, Texas; and Devils Lake, North Dakota prior to moving to Grand Forks in 2000.

After graduating from high school, Clifford attended college in Minot for a brief period and then enlisted in the Air Force.  He served in the Air Force until his retirement and honorable discharge on December 31, 1976.  After his Air Force retirement, Clifford earned his Associate of Arts degree in Carpentry from Lake Region State College.  Clifford's work as a carpenter included renovating the Great Northern Hotel in Devils Lake.  Clifford also worked at Home of Economy and then Ramsey County Housing Authority in Devils Lake.  Clifford retired a second time in 2000. 

Clifford's hobbies included completing jig saw puzzles, building and tinkering with wood, golfing, growing flowers and tomatoes, and watching movies and tv.  He enjoyed watching any John Wayne movies and could probably quote most of the lines from Gunsmoke.  Clifford also loved telling stories and traveling.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lillie; sisters, Ella Langerud and MaryAnne Langerud; and brothers, Charles Horner and Richard Horner.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Ramona; his daughters, Joni (Loren) Nowatzki and Sandy (Kent) Braathen; one grandson, Jace Braathen; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Horner and Gloria Bracken; brothers-in-law, James (Elayne) Urness and Joe (Jean) Urness; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour before the service in the church.

Interment with full military honors will be at the Fargo National Cemetery on Thursday, May 5th at 11:00 a.m.
