It is with great sadness that the family of Carrie Lee Dahl, of Moorhead MN, announce her passing
on June 11, 2021 at the age of 42, surrounded by her family at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND due to
multi organ failure and sepsis.
Carrie was born on July 12, 1978 in Grand Forks, ND to Deborah L (Marwitz) Johnson and Donald Dahl,
Jr. Carrie was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. She attended
Red River High School (‘97) in Grand Forks and earned a bachelor’s degree from DeVry University in
Business Information Systems while she lived in Bolingbrook IL with her fiance and where her
children, Jared and Tayler, were born. She worked at Wags and Whiskers in Moorhead, MN. She was
previously employed at CCRI and MeritCare. Carrie was family orientated, a helper to all and
passionate about animals, especially horses, fostered dogs and raised Ragdoll cats.
She participated in 4H with her horses and volunteered caring for stables. As a youth, she loved
camping, art, her dog Sadie, her classic ‘69 F-100 and participated in a mission trip to Mexico.
She is survived by her fiance Phil Kopiec, their children Tayler Kopiec (18) and Jared Kopiec (20);
her mother Deborah (Marwitz) Johnson, step-father Joe Johnson; sister Christina Dahl and brother
Casey (Samantha) Dahl, step-brothers Michael, Dan, and Greg Johnson; aunt Susan (Thomas) Marwitz
and uncles Donald C (Jessica) Marwitz Jr and Tom Dahl; nieces Ella Dahl, Destiny Butler, Monica
Burris, Jenna Johnson, Carly Davis, Brittany Shevlin, Sapphire Good, Ina Johnson; nephews Xavier
Butler, Treyvon Hairston, Jacob Dahl, Ian Johnson, Luke Johnson, Odin Johnson, Oz Johnson, Cody
Hansen, Tommy Shevlin; cousins Heidi (Mahmoud) Soliman, Brendon Marwitz, Jonah Johnson and Emery
Davis; and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald L Dahl Jr, and paternal grandparents Donna and
Donald L Dahl Sr, and maternal grandparents Donald C. Marwitz Sr, Trudy (Pichl) Marwitz Johnson,
and step-grandfather Erling Johnson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 18th at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1505 S 9th St,
Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be at 12pm with a prayer service at 1pm, burial
and reception to follow.
