Carole (Neil) Fayette, 79, East Grand Forks, died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Altru Hospital surrounded by her family.
Carole was born February 18, 1944, the daughter of Elmore and Mabel (Bateman) Neil in Fosston, Minnesota. She moved to East Grand Forks at the age of five, where she attended school and graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1962.
In 1966, she married Ronald Fayette at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. They made their home in Grand Forks until they moved to East Grand Forks in 1974. Carole was the foundation for her family, watching over her many nieces, nephews, and special friends of her children. She was everyone’s “Auntie Carole”. She worked at the Nash Park warming house keeping an eye on the children while they skated.
Carole liked to travel, making several trips around the area. She also baked, enjoyed sewing, reading her many books, gardening, watching birds, and having family gatherings for the holidays.
Carole is survived by her husband Ron, children: Tammy O’Hara (Leeann), Grand Forks, Jennifer Mickelson, Grand Forks, Joey (Lacy) Fayette, East Grand Forks; grandchildren: Chris (Whitney) O’Hara, Landon Fayette, Keaton Fayette, both of Grand Forks, Presley Mickelson, Grand Forks, Carter Fayette, East Grand Forks; sister Elenore Adair, Jim (Sandy) Neil, Karyn (Rod) Oian, special nephew Scott (Jill) Keil, many nieces, nephews, cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Bob Neil, Ray (Carol) Neil, sister Barbara Dahlstrom and brother-in-law Burt Adair.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
