Carol Yvonne Severinson, 80, Grand Forks ND, died Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia.
Carol was the oldest of four children born to Andrew and Adeline (Bliven) Lemieux on December 25, 1939. She graduated from St. James High School in 1958. Carol worked at the Credit Bureau and KILO radio station in Grand Forks prior to moving to Minneapolis in 1962.
Carol married Kenneth Severinson on April 8, 1961 at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks. The couple moved to Minneapolis in May 1962 following the birth of their daughter, Cindy, five years later followed by the birth of their son, Scott. The family lived in Fridley, Brooklyn Park, Thief River Falls and Brainerd, MN before returning to Grand Forks.
Over the years, Carol enjoyed raising her two children and spending time with her grandchildren and more recently her great-grandchildren. She attended many chorus and band concerts, school programs, football games, track meets, volleyball games and dance recitals. Carol was an avid bowler and on many bowling leagues in her younger years. During her free time she enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and had quite the library of cookbooks. Carol would also fill her day with jigsaw puzzles, reading People magazine, playing bingo and traveling with her longtime friend from elementary school, Kay Homstad. Carol and Kay enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Yellowstone, and San Diego to visit friends and attend class reunions.
Carol is survived by her children Cindy Severinson, Grand Forks and Scott Severinson, Chaska, MN; grandchildren Morgan (Charlie) Miller, Grand Forks; Callie (Jeremy) O’Keefe, Eden Prairie, MN; Carter Severinson, Bloomington, MN; Karlie Severinson, Chaska, MN; great-grandchildren Isla and Beckham Miller. Siblings Dale (Mary) Lemieux, Morrison, CO; Gary (Cheryl) Lemieux, Grand Forks; Debra Blazer, Grand Forks and nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, Sept 17th at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Circle of Friends Animal Shelter. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing and face coverings are recommended.
