Carl M. “Milt” Martin, 94, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Friday, October 19, 2018 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center.
Carl Milton Martin, the son of Charles and Esther (Anderson) Martin was born on November 19, 1923 in Armourdale Township, Towner County, North Dakota. He attended country schools at Armourdale and Ellsberry, North Dakota. Carl farmed north of Rock Lake where he raised cattle and small grains.
He married Theresa Lorraine Ullrich on June 8, 1953. They purchased the family farm from Milt’s parents and farmed until 1987 when they retired and moved into Rock Lake.
Milton enjoyed playing on the Hansboro baseball team in his younger years. He was a member of All Nations Lutheran Church in Rock Lake and was active in the Cornerstone Senior Citizens Group. Milt was very proud of his Finnish heritage and enjoyed learning about the history and culture of the Finnish people.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa, Grand Forks; children, Richard Martin, Rock Lake, ND, Gerald (Carolyn) Martin, Rock Lake, ND, Curtis Martin, Fargo, ND, Craig Martin, Moorhead, MN, Laurie Torkelson, Bismarck, ND, Jeanine Martin, Grand Forks, ND, Jeanette (Clay) Aanerud, Otsego, MN, Cheryl (Nate) Carlson, Grand Forks, ND, and Michelle Lenz, Reading, MN; 15 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings Pearl Willman, Marvin Martin, Eugene Martin, and Dennis (Carol) Martin.Tuesday, October 23, 2018
