Bruce David Hart, of Grand Forks, passed away at age 63 on Monday, September 18, 2023. During his final few days, he was surrounded by love from his family and friends. Bruce was born May 10, 1960, in Vancouver, Washington. His family returned to North Dakota where he graduated from Larimore High School in 1978 and later the North Dakota State College of Science. He worked with his dad following graduation, then took positions with Bob’s Body Shop and Transystems before beginning his amazing 24-year career with LM Wind Power, where he made worldwide impact on wind turbine blade manufacturing.
Alongside his career, Bruce made an immense impact in the dirt track racing world where he raced initially in the Hobby Stock division then in the Late Model division for another two plus decades. Bruce, in his passion for improvement, grew Hart Attack Repair, a racing business that focused on fabrication and chassis building. His dedication and impact to racing was recognized in 2011 with his induction into the River Cities Speedway Hall of Fame and will continue to be felt decades into the future given the wide reach of young drivers he helped.
In his kind manner, he was always at the ready to help, especially if he could make things better, help others learn, and have fun in the process. He loved music, travel and seeing new places, especially when he could share those loves with family and friends. Bruce was the first to set plans to bring people together for celebrations far and wide. Those events have made a lifetime of memories for us all.
Bruce is survived by mother Linda, sister Angie (Curt) Lommen and niece Elise plus many treasured aunts, uncles, and cousins; and bonus family to include dear family friend Al Jordheim; stepbrother, Curtis (Beverly) Fjelstad; stepsisters, Mari (Russell) Christensen, Peggy (John) Errecart and Patti Fjelstad; and many dear nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by father Duane and brother Todd Hart.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 14, in Grand Forks. Celebration will be 2pm-4pm, followed by a reception. If you are able to join, please email the family the number of guests via [email protected] and we respond with location information.
