Beverly Whitcomb

Beverly Whitcomb, 89, Grand Forks, died Friday, April 22, 2022 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Beverly Ann Wanda Schmid was born on December 17, 1932, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Onerheim) Schmid, in Minnewaukan, N. D. She graduated from Minnewaukan High School in 1950 and then enrolled in nurses training at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, N.D. After graduating and receiving her R.N. diploma, she continued to work in the Pediatrics Department at St. Alexius until 1954.
On July 25, 1954, she married John L. Whitcomb in the Presbyterian Church in Minnewaukan, N.D. They lived in Rolette, Egeland, and Portland, N.D., until moving to Grand Forks in 1960.

She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, serving on the session (church governing board) and as Moderator of the Presbyterian Women, as well as offices in her church circle.

She is survived by a son, Kyle Whitcomb, Grand Forks; and daughters, Leslie Erdmann, Grand Forks, ND, and Jill Whitcomb, Fargo; 5 grandchildren, Aleece (Justin) Mero, East Grand Forks, Jenna Magee, Grand Forks, Logan Holt, Bismarck, Garrett Diller and Baylee Jo Diller, Phoenix, AZ; 2 great-grandsons, Riley and Chase; 2 great-granddaughters, Taylor Mero and Josie Magee.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bradley; a baby daughter; her parents; brothers, Lloyd and Glenn; and her sisters, June Hartman and Gloria Gaasland.

Memorial Services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 in First Presbyterian Church in Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium.

The family requests no flowers, but suggests memorials to First Presbyterian Columbarium Fund, Camp Sioux (ND ADA), or to the American Diabetic Association or to the charity of your choice.
