Beverly Ann Turner, 86, Grand Forks, died Saturday, September 7, 2024, in her home.
Beverly was born March 5, 1938, in Lake Bronson, Minnesota, the daughter of Orville Severson and Gertrude Johnson. She grew up and attended school in Lake Bronson, graduating from Lake Bronson High School in 1955. She then went to business school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she received her degree.
While in Minneapolis, she went on a blind date with some friends, and she met her husband, Derrold Turner. They were married in Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Bronson, Minnesota in 1958. They moved to Grand Forks, where Beverly started working for Red River National Bank until 1960, when they welcomed their first-born son.
Beverly proudly raised her children attending all their sporting and school events and then her grandchildren’s events. She had a fiery spirit that she used as the family manager and their statistician who everyone relied on to keep the score and keep everyone in line.
Beverly was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, a member of multiple card clubs, and a league bowler at Red Ray Lanes in Grand Forks for many years. She also bowled in several tournaments around the region. She liked playing bingo, baking, sewing, and doing her puzzles. She could do anything she put her mind to doing. Her most cherished title was “Grandma” where she enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow into young adults.
Beverly is survived by her children: Greg (Lela) Turner, Terrebonne, OR, Lori (Jon) Landa, Grand Forks, ND, Steve (Robin) Turner, Grand Forks, ND, Doug (Ramie) Turner, Bismarck; grandchildren: Kelcy (Kaden) Vugteveen, Jayce Turner, Kaden Landa, Reed Turner, Cale (Carissa) Turner, Brooks Turner, Reese Turner, her first great grandchild on the way, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Derrold, brother Roger, and several aunts and uncles.
