Beverly Ann Bartlette was born in Walhalla, ND on the 11th of June 1947, to John and Irene (Venne) Bartlette. The family later made their way to Grand Forks, ND where Beverly met and married James Miller, who was stationed at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. They later moved to Klamath Falls, OR. She returned to Grand Forks in 1975, with her four children.
Beverly went by many titles. Mom, Aunt, Sister, Grandma, GG, and of course Cookie, but no matter what title she went by, the words to describe her were always the same, Selfless and Loving.
Beverly worked her life as a bartender in many establishments in the Grand Forks area, but no job meant more to her than her job at the Bronze Boot. There she met and made many lifelong friends who would often come over to her house on University Ave on warm summer nights to gather around the fire in the backyard, and drink shots of Blackberry Brandy or Jack Daniels. Beverly loved hosting Holidays for everyone she knew, Christmas being her favorite, which she did for many years. Beverly was happiest, surrounded by her family and friends, often making her world-famous fried chicken and potato salad, and getting down on the floor to play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It didn’t matter whether you knew her a week, month, year, or your whole life, she was always so happy when people would stop over for a visit. Whether she was drinking coffee and doing crossword puzzles in the mornings, watching Criminal Minds in the afternoon, or hosting poker night, you were always welcomed with a smile, and most definitely a lot of quick wit.
In October of 2024, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Beverly was placed on hospice at the home of her daughter, Susan where she remained until her passing. Beverly passed on Friday, February 21, 2025.
Beverly is survived by her four children, Susan, Randy (Kim Anderson), Lesley, and Brian all of Grand Forks, ND; siblings, Sharon Sondreal of West Fargo, ND, John (Evey) Bartlette of East Grand Forks, MN, Vern Bartlette of Oakdale, MN, and sisters-in-law Jeanne Bartlette of Grand Forks, ND and Vickie Bartlette of Redmond, OR; her grandchildren, Paul (Ashley) Miller of East Grand Forks, MN, Michael Miller of Grand Forks, ND, Breanna (David Chou) Wurgler of Grand Forks, ND, Brennan Miller of Grand Forks, ND, Kevin (Samantha) Carlson of Grand Forks, ND, Nicholas Flier of Grand Forks, ND, Bria Miller of Grand Forks, ND, Kayce (Jacob) Lundquist of Grand Forks, ND, Zach Jerome of Grand Forks, ND, and Kyle Moncada of Minneapolis, MN; honorary family members, Scott Carlson of West Fargo, ND, and Doug Carlson of West Fargo, ND; ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, John and Irene, siblings, Allen Roy, Ricky, Lonnie, Donald, and Ron (Cosmo), sister-in-law, Joy and honorary family member, Al.
The Family would like to give a special Thank You to the Hospice of the Red River Valley, especially nurses Kylie, Cindy, and Cheri who gave Beverly the utmost care.
