Beverly J. Ford

Beverly J. Ford, 96, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 at home with family by her side.

Beverly Jean Hensrud was born June 19, 1927 to Elmer and Marie (Voldsrud) Hensrud of Mekinock, ND. She lived in Mekinock for a number of years until they moved to Grand Forks, ND.

Beverly married Chester George Ford in Iowa on December 28, 1944. They had six children together. They moved a few times living in Silverdale, WA, Grand Forks, ND, Bismarck, ND and Alvarado, MN.

Bev worked side by side with Chet, building a home in Silverdale, Washington and later a cabin at Pine Lake, MN.

Besides finishing high school, Beverly earned a Certified Nursing Assistant Certification that she was very proud of.

Beverly loved people. She worked and volunteered at various churches in Grand Forks and in their daycares. Later, she worked in the activity room of Valley Memorial Home for 20 years. But ultimately, according to her children, she was the best mom God ever created!

She enjoyed traveling to places near and far. Besides various places in the United States, she traveled a number of times to Mexico. She also traveled to Norway to visit her mother’s home place and met many Norwegian family there. She loved creating, from culinary items to sewing to crafts and woodworking. She loved the outdoors.

Beverly is survived by her children, Laurel Christiansen, Donna (Eugene) Ellertson, James (Bonnie) Ford, Cheryl Harlow, Gary (Karen) Ford and Rahn (Debra) Ford; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester "Chet"; her parents; a sister (stillborn); and her two brothers, Warren Hensrud and Elmo Hensrud; and by sons-in-law, Glenn Christianson and Jeri Harlow.

Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 12, 2024 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home.
