Beverly Bale

June 6, 1933 — July 23, 2019

Beverly Jean Bolme Bale, born 6/6/1933, went home to be with Jesus on 7/23/2019.

Beverly grew up on a farm north of Fosston, MN. Her early education was in a one-room schoolhouse, and she graduated from Fosston High School in 1951. After high school she moved to Grand Forks and attended Aakers Business College. Following graduation, she was employed as a secretary to the Business Manager at the University of North Dakota. During that time, she met her husband, Harold. They were married on August 14, 1954 at her home church, Zion Lutheran Church in rural Fosston. They began their life together in Grand Forks, then moved to Columbia, Missouri in 1955. After Harold completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Missouri, they returned to Grand Forks in 1959. In August of 2018 they moved to a senior living facility in Eagan, MN.

Their marriage was blessed with four children: Mark, Richard, Charlotte, and Sharon. While her children were of school age, Beverly attended the University of North Dakota earning her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in history, in May of 1973. Beverly was an avid reader and belonged to several book clubs. She started her day with a crossword puzzle. Other pastimes were needlework, quilting, and jigsaw puzzles. She was involved in numerous church, university, and civic organizations. She was an election precinct coordinator, long-time participant in church Bible studies, served on the funeral committee at Calvary Lutheran for many years, and was a 30-year volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed and received satisfaction from volunteering and serving others.

She and Harold traveled extensively, both nationally and internationally. They enjoyed spending time with family at their cabin of 40 years on Lake Kabekona in Minnesota. Beverly embraced university life, attending many fine arts and sporting events, including more than 60 years of UND hockey.

Church life was foundational in Beverly’s family. She was a devoted Christian who loved her Lutheran heritage. She and Harold were charter members of Calvary Lutheran who regularly attended Sunday services and events.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold; children Mark (Jill) Bale of Clear Lake, IA; Richard (Cheryl) Bale of Dawsonville, GA; Charlotte (Keith) Carlson of Eagan, MN; son-in-law Brian Wolfe of Holmen,WI; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and sister Sharon (Entrip) Syverson of Lakeville, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Lena and Harold Bolme; siblings LaVerne, DeWayne, Donald, Kathleen; daughter Sharon Wolfe, granddaughter Kristina Masters, and great-grandson Ryan Maddox Walls.

Beverly’s funeral will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks on Monday, July 29 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church or Christus Rex.

Well done, good and faithful servant. Rest peacefully in Jesus’ arms.
