Bernice M. Christianson

Bernice Christianson, age 86, passed away December 25, 2024, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was born on January 20, 1938, in Cooks Valley, Chippewa County, Wisconsin to Julius Meinen and Evelyn (Swoboda) Meinen. She married James Christianson on August 31, 1957, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Bernice worked at various jobs until 1980 when she received her nursing license and worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home for several years. After a back injury, she worked at Family of God Lutheran Church in the office.

 She is survived by her children, Julie Christianson of Grand Forks ND, Jon (Kathy) Christianson of East Grand Forks MN, Nancy Gunderson of East Grand Forks MN, Lori Christianson of Grand Forks ND and Tony (Krystle) Christianson of Oshkosh WI. She is also survived by brothers, Clarence (Emily) Meinen of Chippewa Falls WI, David (Carolyn) Meinen of Cornell WI, Ronald (Louise) Meinen of Mesa AZ; and sister, Viola (Les) Bowe of Tilden WI; and sisters-in-law Peg Meinen of Bloomer WI and Loni Meinen of Chippewa Falls WI. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James in 2006; one daughter, Suzanne, in infancy; brothers, Willard Meinen and Jupe Meinen; and sister, Maryanne Smetana.

 Bernice enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends, pitching for a women’s softball league, watching her beloved Minnesota Twins, gardening, quilting, sewing rugs, crocheting, and spending time at the lake.

Memorial Services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Family of God Church, East Grand Forks, MN.  Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. The service will be livestreamed on the church Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/LightsignsChurch/
