Barbara R Moulds, 87 of rural Fisher, Minnesota died Friday, October 6, 2023, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, surrounded by her loving family.

Barb was born on August 14, 1936, the daughter of Gunder and Zora (Vandeventer) Sorenson in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Fisher, Minnesota, Barb met the love of her life, Melvin Moulds, in 1952. Barb and Mel were united in marriage October 17, 1953, at the family homestead. Marking 70 years of marriage this October. They made their home in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, until returning to Fisher, Minnesota in 1970, where they helped with the family farm. Barb and Mel took over the operation of the farm six years later. Barb and Mel moved to the family homestead in 1980.

Throughout the years, Barb was busy raising her five children while also working various jobs at the school in Fisher. Barb started to work for the United States Postal Service in 1978 as a rural mail carrier and retired in 1997. Barb had a strong spiritual faith, being an active member of her church and supporting her children and grandchildren in their faith. Her retirement years were spent attending her grandchildren’s activities, cheering them on as their biggest fan. Barb enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, gardening and just spending time outside and enjoying the farm with Mel. She also enjoyed fishing, with Alaska being a special place for her and Mel, spending 10 summers in Valdez.

Barb is survived by her loving husband, Mel Moulds; children, Steve (Jean) Moulds, Duane (Karen) Moulds, Craig (Denise) Moulds, David Moulds and Cindy (Richard) Gratzek; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren; sister, Ione (Ernie) Geistfeld; numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law, Kristi Lynn Moulds and sister, Elaine Bowan.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday October 13 at River Heights Lutheran Church East Grand Forks, MN with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 14 at River Heights Lutheran Church East Grand Forks, MN. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Fisher MN.
