Barbara Ann Danner, 65, Grand Forks, died Friday, November 16, 2018 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks after fighting a long and courageous battle from cancer with her family by her side.
Barbara Ann Woods, the daughter of Raymond and Donna Lou (Facey) Woods, was born in Grafton, North Dakota on February 8, 1953. She was the oldest of 5 children. As a young girl, Barb was a member of the Johnstown Jill’s 4-H where she received the ND Homemaker of the year award. She graduated from Midway High School in 1971 with academic honors. She continued her education at NDSU and UND, graduating with a BA in Home Economics. Barbara married Max Danner on November 24, 1973 at the Forest River Community Church. They lived in Gilby, North Dakota before moving to the family farm south of Johnstown, North Dakota where they raised their four boys. Barb was her boys’ biggest fans, never missing a game. She loved sports. She was employed as a teacher at Midway Public Schools and later Minto Public Schools until she retired in 2014. She was the FCCLA advisor for Midway for many years. Barb was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Honeyford, North Dakota. She was a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma and cherished those friendships made. Barb loved to garden and loved growing flowers. She even operated a green house on the farm for several years.
Barb loved being a part of her grandchildren’s lives either by attending sporting events, school activities and FaceTiming her Nebraska grandchildren. Barb loved family time, especially going to Lake Bemidji to their family lake cabin in the summer.
Barbara is survived by her mother, Donna Woods, Grand Forks; four sons, Neil (Kami) Danner, Thompson, ND, Brian (Megan) Danner, Grand Island, NE, Todd Danner, Grand Forks, an Rodney Danner, Grand Forks; 5 grandchildren, Chance, Reese, Cash, Natalie, Lillian; brothers, Arthur (Deb) Woods, Forest River, ND, Roger (Kim) Woods, Grand Forks, ND, Paul (Jessica) Woods, Grand Forks, Scott (Susie) Woods, Forest River, ND; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max, and her father, Raymond.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Honeyford, North Dakota. Following the burial service lunch served at the Forest River Community Center. Interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Gilby, North Dakota.
