Barbara Darlene Goulet (Smith), 73, passed away on January 13, 2021 from Covid-19 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Barbara was born in Grafton, ND on June 10, 1947 to Cecelia Warren Smith (Gross) and Louis Michael Smith. She attended boarding school in Chamberlain, SD.
She met the love of her life, Robert Michael Douglas Goulet and married him on March 7, 1969. Together they raised four children, Laura L. Goulet, Bobbie Jo Goulet, Edward M. Goulet and Carrie Lynn Goulet. Barbara also had a son, Tony Fladland and four step-sons from Robert’s first marriage.
Robert Goulet (Dougal) passed away April 19, 1998. Barbara continued caring for her children and herself. She also took care of her grandson, Brandon Goulet until the time of her passing. Other grandchildren are Dylan, Emma, Lucas, Andrew, Tessa Jo, J.J., Legend, Robert, Bruce, Desean, Brianna, Owen, Mason, Loren; three great grandchildren and one more in the way.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Dougal) Goulet; her daughter Laura Lee Goulet; her parents, Cecelia Warren Smith Gross and Louis Smith; her mother-in-law, Edna (Vondal) Goulet; father-in-law, Edward Michael Goulet and her angel baby grandson, Mason Loren Olschlager (Bobbie Goulet’s son); brothers, John Smith, Kenneth Smith; sisters, Debbie (Josie) Smith, Betty Moen and Rosella Behnke; and many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed spending time with her niece, Diane Smith, playing Bingo and going to the casino. She enjoyed conversations with family and friends. She was always willing to help others when she could. She lived her life with a very strong faith in God, never letting a day go by without praying to God and thanking him for all he had blessed her with.
She will be missed so much by her family including her sisters, Linda (Jim) Lundeen, Shirley (Ed) Spoonemore, SD, Clara Prentice, TX, Bernadette (James) Anderson (Myers) and brother, Francis Smith, Belcourt, ND
She will remain a special lady, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before Mass in the church.
The Mass will be livestreamed and available on the St. Michael's Catholic Church website.
The family requests any memorials be addressed to Barbara's daughter, Bobbie Goulet.
