Barbara Belt

With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of our beloved mother, Barbara Jean Belt (79), who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 16, 2025. She was born in 1945 to James and Edith Aasen in Grand Forks, ND. She attended Grand Forks Central High School and worked at the Dakota Theater. She then worked at Valley and Bremer Banks for nearly 40 years, where she greatly enjoyed helping her customers until her retirement in 2014.

Barb’s main focus in life was her family. As the proud matriarch, her greatest achievement was raising her four daughters. She was fiercely independent and strong and provided infinite love and support, creating deep family bonds. She found immense joy in being called grandma, cherishing every moment she spent with them, whether playing Rummikub, baking banana bread, playing in the toy room, watching UND hockey, or simply sharing laughter and love. Her infectious spirit and endless patience created a special bond with each grandchild, leaving a legacy of warm and cherished memories.

Left to honor Barb and remember her love are her daughters Bobbie (Jim) Beal, Becky Belt, and Robyn (Perry) Bancroft; 7 grandchildren McKenzie (Matty) Walton, Zack Beal, Matthew Douin, Gretchen Devier, Jazmine (Ethan Czaplewski) Krogstad, Rainy and Birdie Bancroft; 7 great-grandchildren Lilly, Adeline, Carson, Madalynn, Vivian, Beckett, and Wells; sister Debi Trytten and sister-in-law Paula Aasen. She leaves us rich in memories as she joins her daughter, Renee Belt-Ronald, parents, sister Lorann Broderson, brother Donald Aasen, grandson Patrick Morrison, and great-granddaughter Brooklynn Devier.

Please join us in celebrating and honoring her life on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately after the service.

In lieu of memorials, the family requests donations to TEARS, P.O. Box 5006, Grand Forks, ND 58206, in honor of Barb’s late grandson, Patrick.
