Audrey Miranda Shea, 85, Grand Forks, ND, died under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley February 3, 2021, at Edgewood Vista, Fargo, ND.
Audrey was born January 8, 1936, in Maddock, ND, the daughter of William and Clarice (Aanderud) Nelson. She grew up on a farm near Oberon, ND and graduated from Oberon High School in 1953. She attended St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo, graduating in 1956. She married Richard (Dick) Shea on June 22, 1957 in Fargo. They moved to Grand Forks, where she worked in health care at The Grand Forks Clinic, The Orthopedic Clinic (TOC) and Altru, spending most of her career with her TOC family.
Audrey enjoyed making connections with all people and was a steadfast supporter of her beloved friends and family. She was fond of connecting to others with various activities. She traveled the country with her “traveling buddies” to warm destinations where they took in the sights, frequented the slot machines, and managed to play several hands of pinochle. After retirement, her mornings were filled with mall walking and coffee at Scheels with friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with family at the cabin on Sybil Lake, making her signature cheesy potatoes while diligently watching as children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren splashed and swam in the water.
Audrey is survived by her children, Cindy Leier (Marv), Grand Forks, ND and Mike Shea (Steph), West Fargo, ND; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Craig Leier (Sara), Stewartville, MN and their children Luke, Sam and Claire; Cory Leier (Lucy Lowe), Traverse City, MI; Ian Leier (Eryn), Grand Forks, ND and their children Shea and Beau; Natalie King (Madison), Indianapolis, IN and Nolan Shea, West Fargo, ND; her sister-in-law, Denise Dasher, Newnan, GA, and her brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Katherine Nelson, Devils Lake, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; her brother, Clayton Nelson, and brother and sisters-in-law Grace Nelson, Charlie and Agnes Scheidt, Ray and Corajean Mount, and Dick Dasher.
