** To watch a recording of the service, please use the link: https://youtu.be/Pz2YoEXqhH8 Arthur H. Forman, 97, Grand Forks, passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2021. Arthur was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1924, in Wahpeton, ND. Art grew up in Wahpeton graduating from Wahpeton High School. He was called to serve for his country in 1942. Art was a member of a Special Forces Unit known as the 10th Mountain Division and served in the Aleutians and again in the PO Valley in Italy from 1942 to 1945. He returned home to attend UND where he played goalie in 1947-48 for the university’s first hockey team after WWII, graduating from UND with a business degree. Art married Norma Fladland in October of 1948. Together they raised two children, Steve and Susan in Grand Forks. He worked for US Customs in Pembina where he worked for 28 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a longtime member of Sharon Lutheran Church. Art cherished his good friends. He loved and became quite proficient at woodcarving until his vision failed him. He enjoyed working the doors at the (then) new R.E.A. for several years. Art is survived by his children: Steve, Grand Forks, and Susan, of Oregon, grandchildren: Arthur Jacob Wood of Oregon, Tyler J Maples of Tennessee, Peter Maples of Florida; sister Louise Bakken of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma, his parents, grandson Tony Maples, and his sisters Carol Misura and Rita Lindblom. Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park North Cemetery.
