Arnold "Arne" Ralph Tufte

September 25, 1933 — February 24, 2020

Arnold “Arne” Tufte, 86, Grand Forks, N.D., died Monday, Feb. 24, in Valley Senior Living on 42nd Woodside Village.

Arne was born September 25, 1933, the son of Ole & Gunhild (Svastuen) Tufte in rural Brocket, ND. He grew up, was confirmed and attended school in Brocket.

He married Shirley Yvonne Nelson in Pinewood MN on June 19, 1955. They started their married life in Grand Forks. They moved to Northwood for a time, then moved to Emerado where they lived for 27 years. They also lived in Hatton ND.

Arne worked as a meat cutter at Miller’s Grocery and the GFAFB Commissary Meat Dept. He also had his own meat shop & processed many deer every hunting season. He enjoyed camping, gardening, and loved all of the fall festivals and thrashing bees. Family was everything to him and even stayed connected with his family in Norway on his ipad.

Arne is survived by his daughters, Candace “Candy” (William) Fuehrer, Teresa (Dwaylon) Simms and daughter-in-law Brenda Tufte; grandchildren, Brandi (Scott Harloff) Fuehrer, Hana (Alex) Cameron, Tyler Medeiros, Joshua (Abby) Hall, Vanessa (Michael) Martinez, Jade Hall, Hunter Tufte, great grandchildren: Brody Melicher, Parker Cameron, Avelynn Medeiros, Nolan Martinez, Brooks Hall and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; son, Scott; sister, Anna; brothers, Clarence, Obert.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Vaage Cemetery, rural Brocket ND.
