Andy Basting, 62, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on April 22, 2024.
He was born on July 2, 1961. Andy was a beloved father to Amber and Brian, and a cherished brother to Susan, Carol, Julie, and Frank.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen.
Andy’s early life was spent in Glen Ullin and Hazen, North Dakota, before moving to Grand Forks where he attended Red River High School. In his early career, Andy co-owned the family restaurant, Howard’s Pizza, before transitioning to roles in gaming and telecom. For the past 18 years, he dedicated himself to Cirrus Aircraft, where he served as a quality assurance inspector. He had great pride in his work there and his colleagues meant a great deal to him.
Andy will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and willingness to help others. He had a special place in his heart for his chihuahuas, Reubon and Mischif, and his cat Zeppelin.
His hobbies included gardening, showing off his cars, riding motorcycles and playing the guitar. He enjoyed cooking, baking bread and making hot sauces from his garden. Andy also loved to travel and visit family around the country and always remembered his childhood trips to Oregon very fondly.
Per his wishes, Andy did not want a funeral service and requested that his life be celebrated by recalling all of the good times shared with him. Andy's presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
