Amzi Eugene Beardemphl

Amzi Eugene Beardemphl, age 59, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019.

Amzi was born February 3, 1960 in Wichita, KS to Richard and Nancy (Kish) Beardemphl. Amzi’s family later relocated to Ashton, SD where he graduated from Northwestern High School (Melette, SD) in 1978. Amzi married Dawn Hilkemeier on June 1, 1979 in Redfield, SD, they later divorced. Together they raised five children. Amzi enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1982 he honorably served at Ft.Campbell, KY and Ft. Carson, CO. He also spent time overseas in Korea, Germany, and Honduras. He finally settled in Grand Forks, ND in 1993 after his retirement as a sergeant. Amzi enjoyed fishing, helping his kids with home projects, and an occasional Bud Light. 

After moving to Grand Forks, he worked at Altru Health Systems as a manager in the linen department, he later worked at Cross Country Courier until he was no longer able to work due to his illness.

Loving family members of Amzi include his children, Benjamin (Angela), Chris (Jessica), Eric, and Amber Beardemphl all of Grand Forks, ND and Dustin (Casey) Beardemphl of Enigma, GA; 6 grandchildren, Terra, James, RJ, Katelyn, Audrey, and Kylee; siblings Kris (Michael) Canty of Kerens, TX, Richard Jr. (Sharon) Beardemphl of Ashton, SD, and Diane (Al) Armstrong of Gary, SD, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. April 26, 2019 at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
