Amy Kay Hanson, 37, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, died on Monday, February 6, 2023, at her home. A memorial service will be held in Minnesota at a later date.
Amy was born on May 19, 1985, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota to Randy and Twyla Hanson. She was raised in Andover and received her education at Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Anoka High School in 2003. During high school, Amy participated in a theatre group called "Revolutions."
Following high school, Amy began working for Ace Hardware and then McDonalds, before going back to school to receive her business degree. In 2017, Amy moved to Grand Forks to be near her sister and brother-in-law. She began working at Prepper Gun Shop in Grand Forks as an online customer service agent. Amy considered Prepper her family away from home and considered them great people to work with all the way through.
Amy enjoyed shooting sports, jewelry making and gardening. She was a proud Mustang owner and especially loved her cat, Mushu.
Amy is survived by her parents, Twyla and Randy Hanson of Andover, MN; sisters, Daucy Hanson and her boyfriend Justin Nicolay of St. Peter, MN, and Holly (Andy) Thompson of Jamestown, ND; a grandmother, Pat Trester of Andover, MN; and many AWESOME aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorothy Hanson, and a grandfather, Larry Trester.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Red River Hospice.
