Amy Christine Benoit, 50, Thompson, ND, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at home.
Amy Christine Grandalen was born October 21, 1973 in Mayville, ND, to Bennie and Patricia (Sand) Grandalen. She was raised on the family farm in rural Portland, ND and graduated from May-Port High School in 1992. Amy attended Mayville State University and UND. Amy was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother, finding joy and fulfillment in creating a warm and loving home for her family.
Amy poured her heart into every moment she spent with her family and loved ones. Whether it was a cozy family dinner or a fun-filled day at the lake on the water or next to a bonfire, Amy's love, laughter, and welcoming smile always filled the air, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
In addition to her dedication to her family, Amy had a talent for bringing people together to celebrate life's special moments. Her creativity and attention to detail made every gathering a memorable and joyous occasion. She embodied selflessness and was always willing to go above and beyond for anyone who needed it. She was devoted to her faith and was passionate about spreading the Word of God as a bible school teacher.
Amy married her best friend and soulmate Marcus Benoit on July 2, 1994. He survives along with their children, Laura Benoit, Grand Forks, ND, Ryan Benoit (Kaylie Bies), Thompson, ND, and Michael Benoit, Grand Forks, ND; parents, Bennie and Patricia, Portland, ND; siblings, Brian (Laurie) Grandalen, Portland, ND, Brenda (Matt) Roller, Hope, ND, Blair (Kathleen) Grandalen, Portland, ND and Beth (Brad) Ness, Thompson, ND; and many nephews and nieces.
Amy was preceded in death by an infant sister, Debra Grandalen.
A celebration of Amy's life will be held on April 17, 2024 at the Alerus Center from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a 4:00 PM prayer service where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the beautiful soul that she was. Enter Alerus door #6.
A private funeral service will be held. Interment will be at Bang Lutheran Cemetery, Portland, ND. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bang Lutheran Church in Amy's memory.
Amy will be deeply missed by her beloved family and friends, who will forever carry her love, kindness, and joyful spirit in their hearts.
