Amos Pladson, 84, Grand Forks, died September 19, 2024, in his home.
Amos was born June 8, 1940, in Northwood, North Dakota, the son of Kermit and Frances (Hanson) Pladson. He was raised by Trina Huus on the family farm near Buxton. Amos graduated from Buxton High School in 1958. He then attended Mayville College.
Amos joined the US Marines in 1962 where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1966. After he returned to North Dakota, Amos went to work for the State Highway Department in Grand Forks, where he worked for 8 years. He then became a Civil Service Fireman at the Grand Forks Air Force Base where we worked until 1995 when he was 55 years old. Amos went on to work for American Crystal Sugar Company until his retirement in 2010. Amos was always a dedicated hard worker, became a member of management everywhere he worked and was appreciated by his workers.
Amos married Theresa Gierszewski, in Grand Forks in 1970. They made their home in Grand Forks.
Amos loved spending time at Cass Lake where they would go for 51 years. He liked fast convertibles, westerns like Gun Smoke, and anything with Elvis, John Wayne, or James Arness. He was a member of the East Grand Forks American Legion and VFW, and a member of the Eagles in Valley City. Theresa and Amos went on many trips together, and for 23 years, they made the journey to Kansas City for their granddaughter’s birthday. He was most proud of his family, especially his mother Trina, and his brother and sister.
Amos is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa, son Wade (Fiancé Janelle Jacob) Pladson, granddaughter Brooke Pladson, sister Geraldine Olson, brother Darrell (Pat) Pladson, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Trina Huus, brothers: Larry “Bob” Huus, Eugene Pladson, and sister Shirley Pladson.
Memorial service will be held Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Amundson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
