Allen C. Gray, 71, Grand Forks died Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Valley Senior Living on Columbia Rd.
Allen Cameron Gray, the son of Garnett and Kunigunda “Gundy” (Dietz) Gray, was born on December 23, 1952, at Great Falls, Montana. Since his father was in the military, Allen grew up and attended schools in many places, including Great Falls, Montana, Wiesbaden, Germany, Madrid, Spain, Altus, Oklahoma and Grand Forks, ND, where he graduated from Central High School in 1971. He attended the University of North Dakota where he studied journalism and was a member of ROTC. He worked in cable TV sales for many years and worked for his brother Bryan at A. Pro. Maintenance until he suffered a stroke in 2015, which caused him to retire.
Allen enjoyed all sports and was a big UND sports fan. He could rattle off sports statistics like nobody else. His favorite team was the LA Lakers. He was a wiz at crossword puzzles including the NY Times. He never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He loved his family and looked forward to any family gathering. He attended many Gray family reunions over the years.
Allen is survived by his brothers, Barry (Jacky) Gray, Petersburg, ND, and Bryan (Kristi) Gray, Grand Forks; a sister, Robin (Steve) Turner, Grand Forks, ND; and a half-brother, Garnett Gray Jr, Grand Forks; nephews and nieces, Alisa (Kevin) Hessinger, Bismarck, ND, Angela (Lewis) Schock, Bismarck, ND, Michael (Chelsea) Gray, Grand Forks, Jayce Turner, Tampa, FL, Austin Gray, Grafton, ND, and Reed Turner, Minneapolis, MN; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation for one hour before the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. A fellowship gathering is planned from 1-3:00 pm at Eagles Crest (5301 S Columbia Rd) in Grand Forks. A special thank you to everyone who took excellent care of Al over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Valley Senior Living on Columbia Rd.
