ALAN PAUL BRODIN
Alan Paul Brodin, age 41 of Grand Forks, died on Sunday July 29, 2018 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour before service time.
Alan Paul Brodin, a son of F. Paul and Charlotte (Golby) Brodin, was born on January 1, 1977 at Moorhead, MN. He was the first New Year’s Baby born at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead in seven years. At a young age Alan moved with his parents to Grand Forks. He attended school there and graduated from Red River High School. After graduating, Alan moved to Kansas City and worked as a cook at many different restaurants. In the late 1990’s he returned to Grand Forks and began working construction for ICS and also worked at Denny's, IHOP, Perkins, Wild Bills, and Applebee’s. Many times, Alan would work two jobs. He was well known for his Cajun stuffed mushrooms, home-made biscuits with sausage gravy and breaded mushroom specially made for his niece Danielle.
He was an avid fisherman and would fish for anything that was biting that day. Alan’s favorite fishing was fly fishing for the bigger fish and shore fishing for Catfish. It didn’t matter if the fish was big or small there was always a good tale to tell. Alan loved to ride his motorcycle on the open road when he was able.
Alan will be greatly missed by his son, Jacob (Mikayla) and his grandson Jordan of Beaufort, SC; parents; Paul and Charlotte Brodin of Grand Forks; sister, Tammy (Kenny) Batemen of Fargo; a niece, Danielle, several other nieces and nephews and X, E, and I. grandparents, Herman and Lori Smith and numerous aunts and uncles. Many friends and special groups of friends called “The Boys”
Alan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Ruth Golby and A.V. and Dorothy Brodin; an uncle, Wayne Voth an aunt Joyce Thyren.
