Our Beloved, Alice L. Gardner, 88, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on February 6, 2008, at Valley 4000 Woodside Village Hearthstone. Alice was born April 16, 1919, in Brainerd, MN, the daughter of Clara and Richard Kyllingstad. She grew up on the family farm, but lived in a boarding house in town to graduate high school. She married George Gardner in 1938, and they moved to Grand Forks in 1945. Alice was devoted to her family. She was a memorable cook, baker, and seamstress. She enjoyed big band music, was an avid reader and liked to play whist and cribbage. Alice will be remembered as a kind, loving, generous person and we will treasure her memory in our hearts. Her surviving family includes her husband of 70 years, George; daughters, Sharon (Ralph) Block of Coldwater, MI, Vicki of Ashland, OR, Nancy of Grand Forks; son, Terry (Donna) of Hackensack, MN; six grandchildren, Randy, Barrie, Tarrie Ann, Scott, Stacy and Debra Anne; and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Dorothy) Kyllingstad of Staples, MN. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father William, and her brother, Bryce. **In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Valley 4000 Hearthstone Unit or to Parkwood Place Assisted Living, both in Grand Forks.
