Alton E. "Al" Baglien Alton Ernest "Al" Baglien , 79, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 4000 Valley Square, Woodside Village, Grand Forks, North Dakota. Al Baglien was born April 4, 1928 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Anton and Eleanor (Rudrud) Baglien. As a young man, he worked in and around the Fergus Falls area as a bricklayer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Al married Joanne Tobiason on August 26, 1956 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In 1957 they moved to Grand Forks. He was active in many local community and fraternal organizations including Calvary Lutheran Church (President of the Church Council 1974), Masonic-Malta Lodge #131 AF & AM, 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Kem Temple Shrine (Potentate 1978), Royal Order of Jesters, BPOE (Elks), and American Legion. Al was owner and president of the Tobiason Potato Company until his retirement in 1993. Alton is survived by his wife; two sons, Brent (Susan), Potomac, MD; Brian, Grand Forks; a daughter Bethann (Guy) Farish, Cleveland, OH; five granddaughters, Jessie and Rachel, Grand Forks, Meg, Brigit and Kirstin, Potomac, MD; one grandson, Thomas, Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and a brother, Harold. On October 20, 2006, Al moved to 4000 Valley Square, Woodside Village, until his passing. His family gives special thanks to the Woodside Village staff who cared for him with love and compassion.
