Arlen U. Anderson, 90, of Grand Forks, ND, left to be with the Lord on Sunday December 9th, 2007 at his home in Grand Forks. Arlen Urness Anderson was born to Anna (Urness) and Gus Anderson on November 26th, 1917 in Niagara, ND. Arlen grew up in North Dakota and attended schools in Fordville, Northwood and East Grand Forks, Minnesota. He worked for Flaats Potato Company where he met his future wife, Evelyn. They were married November 26th, 1947. Arlen worked for many years at Peavey Mill. He also worked for UND Plant Services. After retiring he and his wife moved to California for six years, only to return to North Dakota, the land where he grew up and loved. Arlen was also a WW2 veteran. His wife, Evelyn died in 2003. Arlen had a great sense of humor, even to his last day. He was also a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. He also enjoyed UND hockey. He loved fishing and caught his first ever muskee in June 2001. Arlen also loved his 20-year-old dog, Peppy, who preceded him in death by just three days. Those who will miss him dearly are his children Arlene (Bob) Clayton, Fort Worth, TX, Gary (Elaine) Arnebeck, Modesto, CA, Connie (Marcus) Bachmeier, Grand Forks, ND, Nancy (Johnny) Reed, Modesto, CA, Suzanne (Michael) DeHaemer, San Diego, CA, Dan Anderson (Jennifer), Elwood, IN, 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his wife, parents, brother Selmer, sister Blanche, and beloved dog. Arlen is survived by his sister Jeanette (Duane) Chaffee, Des Moines, IA, all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed dearly. FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007, at Hope Covenant Church 1601 17th Ave. S. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Thursday, December 13, from 5-7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
