Bing Larson

Bing Larson, 70, of Grand Forks, passed away November 4, 2007 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, following a brief illness. Dennis "Bing" Ray Larson was born on May 19, 1937, in rural Park River, ND, the son of Vernie & Anna (Olson) Larson. Bing grew up and attended school at the Walsh County Agricultural School where he graduated in 1955. Bing attended the University of North Dakota on a basketball scholarship and it was at UND where he met his future wife. Bing married Rae Ann Rinn on July 21, 1957, in Minot, ND. Bing was a member of Sigma Chi. He graduated from UND in 1959. Bing served as Captain of the UND Basketball team in 1957-58 and was honored in 2004 as one of the University of North Dakota's top 100 basketball players. Bing worked for Montgomery Wards, Burroughs, and devoted the majority of his career to 1st National Bank where he worked 26 years and retired in 1991 as Senior Vice President. After retirement, he briefly worked for Greenberg Realty, Afterwards, he devoted most of his time to his family and the Community. Bing enjoyed playing golf, attending UND sports, and traveling all over the world to see family and friends. He was a member of the Elks, several coffee groups, Sioux boosters, UND Alumni Club, and Jaycee's where he was elected the National Senator for the Jaycee's. Bing did volunteer work for Home delivered meals, and the 1st Presbyterian Church where he was a member and past Deacon and Elder. Bing is survived by his wife Rae Ann; sons, Jeff (Dorene) Larson of Hudson, WI, Jay (Karen) Larson of Pensacola, FL; daughters, Julie (Paco) Burrell of Colorado Springs, CO, Jodi (Robert) O'Brien of La Crosse, WI; brother, Verne (Bonnie) Larson of Shawnee, OK; sister Shirley (Don) Tingum of Grand Forks; 11 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Washington Ave. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Wednesday, November 7, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer Service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks, the visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral service at the church. INTERMENT: Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Hoople, ND.
