Cynthia Capouch

January 16, 1958 — November 20, 2007

Cynthia "Cindy" Boom Capouch, 49, of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died November 20, 2007 at the home of her mother in Grand Forks after a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 16, 1958 in Grand Forks, the youngest daughter of Donald and Magdalene Boom. She attended St. Michael's grade school, Schroeder Junior High and Red River High School graduating in 1976. She graduated in 1978 from ND State School of Nursing at Wahpeton, ND, receiving her LPN degree. Cindy started her nursing career at the Grand Forks Clinic where she was highly regarded by her patients. Because of her loving care, one patient named her baby after Cindy. On August 10, 1978 Cindy married Dean Capouch. Shortly after the birth of their first child, Carly, in 1983, the family moved to Warrren, MN where Cindy worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. In 1986, their son, Ryan, was born. In 1993 the family moved to Garrison, ND where Cindy worked at Garrison Nursing Home, and where Kaitlin was born in 1994. The family's final move was to Pelican Rapids, MN in 1995 where Cindy was able to be a stay-at-home Mom. In 2001 she started her career as a Home Health Aide with Meritcare where she worked until she became ill with cancer. Cindy was a member of St. Leonard's Catholic Church, was involved in many community activities and an integral member of the Pelican Rapids community. Cindy's children were the joy of her life. She was an exceptional caregiver and had a special way with the elderly. She had a great sense of humor and a great laugh (snork) to accompany it. Cindy never met a stranger and will be remembered as a loving and loyal mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend to countless people who will miss her greatly. Cindy is survived by her children, Carly Jones, Washington, D.C., Ryan Capouch, Fargo, ND, and Kaitlin Capouch, Fergus Falls, MN; one grandson, Clayton Jones; her mother, Magdalene Boom, Grand Forks; her brother Ronald (Ginger) Boom, Pasco, WA; two sisters, Peggy (Bill Mager), Kennewick, WA and Judy (Terry Houser), Kansas City, MO; nieces and nephews and numerous other extended family members. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Boom.
