Danny Young

Danny M. Young, 49, Grand Forks, died September 13, 2007 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Danny M. Young was born at Westhope, North Dakota on November 14, 1957, the son of Maurice and Helen (Brix) Young. He attended Antler High School. He married Tina Meyer on October 16, 1982 and was blessed with a lovely daughter Danielle on October 24, 1986. He graduated from Minot State College with a BS in Criminal Justice and worked with the North Dakota State Highway Patrol for 10 years. He did volunteer work at Altru Hospital and Arc Upper Valley Thrift for many years. He was a member of the Cottonwood Community Church at Grand Forks. He was a huge fan of the UND sports programs and local high school sport activities. He especially loved the tailgating events during the UND football season. His second favorite activity other than tailgating was sitting in front of the TV watching football having a dish of his favorite flavored ice cream. Danny is survived by daughter Danielle and Tina Young, Cubby (dog), niece Tracey (Shawn) Gorthy, nephew Wade (Natalie) Sand, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Helen Young, and sister Eileen Sand. **In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Huntington's Chorea research. FUNERAL SERVICES: Tuesday, September 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood Community Church 308 S. 5th St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Monday, September 17th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks. All are encouraged to wear UND Fighting Sioux or your favorite sports team's apparel for the visitation at Amundson's. The visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral at the church.
