David Sande

David L. Sande, 78, Grand Forks, died Monday, March 3, 2008 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. David Lunseth Sande was born July 8, 1929 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Linus J. and Ingeborg (Lunseth) Sande. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1947. In 1955 he graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in History. David served in the US Army from 1951-1952. He married Deloris Jean Bolton on June 14, 1958. David enjoyed growing up in Grand Forks, spending time in the summers at Grace Lake. David worked a variety of jobs during his lifetime in Grand Forks including Grand Forks Marble and Granite, Greyhound Bus Depot (as owner/manager) and True Value Hardware. David was a true people person. Since 1980, David has been retired due to an illness that left him changed, but not deterred, from enjoying his life and family. His family, grandchildren in particular were a highlight in his life. Besides his wife of 49 years, David leaves behind his son Jeff Sande, his wife Denise and their children, Elizabeth and Eric of Bakersfield, California; his daughter, Kim Sande and her husband Mike and their children Michelle and Ryan of Grand Forks; a grandson, Matthew Abentroth and his fiancé Sarah, also of Grand Forks; daughter-in-law, Tracy Abentroth, Grand Forks; a brother, Bob (Betty) Sande, Rochester, Minnesota; a sister, Lorna Ames, Billings, Montana, and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Sande of Bemidji, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Greg Sande, a brother, Jim Sande, and his parents. He will be missed by all who loved him. Memorial Services: will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008 in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks.
