Dennis DeKnikker

Dennis A. DeKnikker Dennis Andrew DeKnikker, 65, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Dennis was born December 21, 1941, the son of Henry and Ethelyn DeKnikker in Volga, SD. He graduated from Volga High School in 1959 and joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after. Dennis spent 20 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1980. Dennis served time in Japan, Viet Nam, and England overseas, and Midwest City, OK, Finley, ND, and Rapid City, SD stateside. Dennis and LaDean settled in Grand Forks in 1996 where he operated D & D Video until 2003. Dennis married LaDean Young, November 8, 1968 in Midwest City. Dennis earned a bronze star while serving in Vietnam. Dennis is survived by his wife LaDean, his mother Ethelyn DeKnikker, Volga, SD, his three children, Teresa (Cesar) Santiago, Phoenix, AZ, Tina (Ted) Kreis, Grand Forks, ND, and Tammy (Clyde) Roers, Fergus Fall, MN, sisters Diane (Richard) Gunderson, St. Paul, MN, Julie (Larry) Lustfield, Brookings, SD, and Marta (Rod) Neuman, Pierre, SD, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Henry, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
