Dennis Nelson

Dennis Lee Nelson, 63, passed away on January 30, 2008, at Altru Hospital from heart failure complications. Dennis was born August 3, 1944, to Harry and Eleanor Nelson in Grand Forks, ND. He was baptized on November 18, 1944, and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks. He graduated from EGF Central High School in 1963, and attended UND from 1963-64, and played hockey for the Sioux. On August 1, 1964, he married Gayle Paulson at First Lutheran Church in EGF. In August of 1964 he hired out on the Northern Pacific Railroad and retired from BNSF Railroad in 2006. He also worked part time for Thorson Farms in EGF for 32 years. Denny will be dearly missed by his entire family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Denny loved God, family, friends, also hockey, hunting, gardening and John Deere farm equipment. He is survived by his wife, Gayle and their children: Darcie and son-in-law, Tom Aubol, EGF, Thad Nelson, EGF, Trent Nelson, Moorhead, Ginger and son-in-law Corey Pesch, EGF, Amber and son-in-law, Calvin Schoepp, Warren, MN, Holly Nelson, Grand Forks, Grandchildren, Zak, Emily and Hunter Aubol, Brittany and Madison Nelson, Cassidy and Courtney Nelson, Taylor and Lainey Pesch. Sister, Sharon (Wayne) Adams, Brothers, Bob (Sandy) Nelson of EGF, Kevin (Kathy) Nelson of Oak Harbor, WA, Aunt and Godmother, Delores Bratvold. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Pallbearers for the funeral service will be John Thorson, Maury Finney, Jerry Nelson, Mark Johnson, Herb Voelker, and Keith Kovar. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2008, at First Lutheran Church, 203 5th St NW, East Grand Forks, MN. VISITATION: Friday, February 1, 2008, from 5:00 ? 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the funeral service at the church. INTERMENT: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, MN.
