Diana L. Wells, 54, Grand Forks, ND died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at home. Diana Lynn Wells was born September 19, 1953 in Miles City, MT the daughter of Arvil Wesley and Evelyn (Wheeler) Wells. She was raised and educated in Miles City graduating from high school there in 1971. Diana earned her BA Degree in mathematics from Carroll College at Helena, MT. She taught high school mathematics in western North Dakota and eastern Montana as well as in Washington D.C. She later earned a masters degree in Mathematics from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks and her PhD in Mathematics from Washington State University. She returned to Grand Forks and was an Associate Professor of Mathematics at UND until her retirement in 2002. She was awarded Professor Emeritus. Diana loved Mathematics and teaching of mathematics. Diana enjoyed quilting, gardening and fishing, especially fishing trips to Alaska. She also enjoyed traveling in the Canadian Rockies. Diana married James R. Carlson, Jr. on February 2, 1974 at Missoula, MT. He survives along with sisters, Arlene Crowfoot, Miles City, MT, Eileen McMunn, Dayton, WA and Glapha Cox, Idaho Falls, ID; uncle, Earl (Annmarie) Wheeler, Williston, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Wesley Wells. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to The Huntington's Disease Society of America.
