Dr. William C. "Bill" Meredith, 78, Grand Forks, ND died Thursday, October 18, 2007 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND William was born October 20, 1928 in Watrous Saskatchewan Canada, the son of William and Thora (Christie) Meredith. He moved as a young child to Glenboro, Manitoba where he was raised and graduated from high school. As a young man, Bill enjoyed working on the family farm with his Dad. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba at Winnipeg in 1949, then graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. He served a two year residency at St. Boniface Hospital at St. Boniface, Manitoba. He was a doctor at Cavalier, ND for one year and at Drayton, ND for 12 years before joining Valley Medical Associates in Grand Forks in 1969. Bill worked as a family physician in Grand Forks until retiring from Altru Health System in 2003. Bill was a kind and compassionate physician who truly enjoyed every day of life. He loved relaxing with family and friends. He loved fishing Lake of the Woods. He was a member of the 3rd District Medical Society, NDMA and the AMA. He was also an avid Fighting Sioux Sports Fan. Bill was a member of the Drayton and Grand Forks Curling Clubs and won the 1970 Grand Forks Bonspiel. After retiring, he enjoyed winters in Marco Island, FL. Bill married Bernice Currie on November 15, 1958 at Belmont Manitoba Canada. She survives along with children, Bill (Sarah) Meredith, and their two children, Kathleen and Paul, Anne (Dr. Rod) Meredith-Will, Bemidji, MN and their three children, Dan, Jack and James, Rob (Chanel) Meredith and their three children, Alison, and twin boys, Zachary and Nicholas; sisters, Mavis (Everett) Goulet, Minnetonka, MN and Dr. Melanie Meredith, Shilo, Manitoba, Canada and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
