Edna Louise Sandmeyer, 94, passed away on October 26, 2007 at Woodside Village, 4000 Valley Square in Grand Forks. She was born in Moscow, Idaho on September 6, 1913 to Louis Royden and Mary Elna (Swanson) Scott. Edna graduated from the University of Idaho at Moscow in 1935 with a degree in English and French. She taught high school in Sandpoint, Idaho for one year before she and Dr. John Sandmeyer were married September 15, 1936 in Moscow, Idaho. When she and Dr. Sandmeyer were first married, they lived in Boston, Massachussetts, while he attended Harvard Medical School. After medical school and World War II, when Dr. Sandmeyer served in the United States Army in England and France, the Sandmeyers moved to Great Falls, Montana for two years, and finally to Grand Forks, ND in 1947. They shared 52 years together before his passing in 1989, raising three daughters in Grand Forks. Edna was active in Wesley United Methodist Church, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae, PEO, and Entre Nous. She enjoyed reading and was an avid bird watcher. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Margaret Martin. She is survived by one sister Elizabeth Westover of Spokane, WA, three daughters, Jill Conradson and husband Ronald of Janesville, WI, Patricia Kammeyer and husband Jerald of Oak Park, IL, and Janet Blackler and husband Edwin of Bigfork, MT as well as her grandchildren Sandra (Conradson) Gilbert and husband Zach of Janesville, WI, Claudia Conradson of Janesville, WI, David Kammeyer of Austin, TX, and Emily Kammeyer of Oak Park, IL.
