Ernest Fladeland

Ernest I. "Ernie" Fladeland, 90, Reynolds, ND died Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Ernest was born December 11, 1916 on the Fladeland family farm near Reynolds, the son of Oliver and Bessie (Trydahl) Fladeland. He was raised on the farm and lived there for 90 years. Ernest attended elementary school at Americus #23 near Reynolds and graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks. He farmed his entire life near Reynolds, but also worked as an assistant chemist for American Crystal Sugar in East Grand Forks, MN for 28 years. Ernest was an avid golfer who won many trophies and enjoyed watching golf on television. He considered Lincoln Golf Course in Grand Forks as his home away from home. But his greatest joy was his family, especially watching his three grandchildren grow up. Ernest and Myrtle (Gjesdal) were united in marriage July 29, 1943. Ernest is survived by his loving family ? his wife of 64 years, Myrtle; son, Roger Fladeland, Grand Forks; daughters, Connie (Steve Fox) Fladeland, Minneapolis, MN and Myrna (Michael) Moore, Mentor, MN; grandchildren, Maxford Moore, Fargo, ND, Marshall Moore, Minneapolis, MN and Meredith Moore, Mentor, MN and brother, Obert (Rose) Fladeland, Wichita, KS. Ernest is preceded in death by his parents; by brothers, Howard, Tilford and Vernon and by sisters, Gladys, Eleanore and Elaine.
