Genevieve Hoffert

Genevieve Hoffert, 81, of Sierra Vista, AZ, passed away October 15, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. She was born in Fillmore, ND, on December 27, 1925, to Joseph and Johanna Wentz. She married John Hoffert in 1945, living in Washington and Idaho before settling in Grand Forks, ND, and raising their family. She and her husband moved to Sierra Vista 20 years ago. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Church and was active in many church activities, including women's groups, blanket ministry to the poor in Mexico, and Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. She also participated in the Red Hat Society and Young at Heart. She had a great love for God and the Blessed Mother, passing on to her children and grandchildren a devotion to prayer and caring for others. Her vibrant faith and youthful spirit had a powerful impact on her family and all those she met. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1998; and brother, Al Wentz. She is survived by sons, Terry Hoffert of Sierra Vista, Kevin (Valentine) Hoffert of Sierra Vista, and Gary (Leigh) Hoffert of Two Harbors, MN; daughters, Maria (Cary) Foy of Sierra Vista, Sharon (Tom) Weber of Thompson, ND, and Deanna (Todd) Strausbaugh of Ft. Myers, FL; grandchildren, Christine, Russell, James, Robert, Sam, Iliya, Claire, Nicole, Kelsey, Jessica and Benjamin; step-grandchildren, Tracy, Derek, Leah, Kara, Erika, James, Tom and Nick; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ben (Alice) Wentz, Clem (Marge) Wentz, Sister John the Baptist, Leonard (Diane) Wentz and Linda (Tony) Hackman.
