Harley Myhre

Harley Julian Myhre, 87, of Northwood, ND, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2007, at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. Harley was born on May 26, 1920, to Ole and Judith Myhre in Kerkhoven, MN. He attended school through 8th grade near Kerkhoven, MN, then High School at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN. Harley joined the Army Air Force on April 8, 1942, and served in England during WWII as a cook. He was honorably discharged on November 15, 1945. This included 28 months in England. Harley worked in California at a pottery plant before returning home to farm for 12 years. He married Vivian Lundquist on April 13, 1957. They moved to Northwood in 1957, where he farmed for 25 years, then retired. He did a lot of little jobs after retirement. Harley's son David was adopted in 1963, and daughter Diane in 1965. Harley gave his heart to the Lord after a heart attack in the early 1960's and there after served on boards and committees at the First Church of God in Grand Forks. The family enjoyed as much travel as farm life could allow. Much time was spent in fellowship with church friends. Harley had been at the Northwood Nursing Home since early July. He worked at AGVISE in Northwood where he much liked the work and made dear friends who have been helpful in the last days. Harley is survived by his wife Vivian; son, David; daughter, Diane Wright; brothers, Floyd & Milo Myhre; sisters, Lyla Hansen and Genivive Anderson, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Adeline, Viola, and Violet, and infant brother Joel. **In lieu of flowers, the family prefers any memorials be sent to the First Church of God in Grand Forks, or the Grand Forks Salvation Army & Red Cross, which gave such good service after the August tornado. FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at the First Church of God in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at the church PRIVATE INTERMENT: Washington Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rural Northwood, ND.
