Harvey Moilanen, 86, died on Monday, November 19, 2007, Manor Care in Fargo, ND, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Harvey Richard Moilanen was born April 21, 1921 on his parent's farm in Nelson County near Brocket, ND, the son of John C. and Ida (Kangas) Moilanen. Mr. Moilanen attended grade school in Pelto, ND, and attended High School in Whitman, ND, and graduated from Lakota, ND, in 1939. Harvey moved to the West Coast in the 40's and worked on maintenance of canning equipment in a factory. In the 50's he moved to Devils Lake, ND, and was employed as a mechanic for International Harvester and later at Lake Chevrolet. He started with the State Highway Department in 1955, and became their shop foreman. Harvey retired in 1983. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. On June 6, 1987, Harvey married Rose Heazlett in Grand Forks, ND. Rose passed away on May 19,1996. Harvey lived in Grand Forks until moving to Manor Care Health Services in Fargo in October of 2003. Harvey was member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Devils Lake and later became a member of Calvary Lutheran in Grand Forks. Survivors include a sister, Elsie and her husband Edwin Duane Foss, Fargo; nephew Brian Foss of Huron, SD; and niece Vera (Foss) Neiman, Fargo. Other survivors include two step-sons; Tom (Peggy) Heazlett, Curt (Susan) Heazlett and step-daughter in law, Beki Heazlett. All are from Grand Forks. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose, and an infant brother. FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Friday, November, 23, 2007, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at Amundson's. INTERMENT: at the Moilanen family plot in the Finnish Lutheran Cemetery near Brocket, ND.
