Herman Livingston, 84, Grand Forks, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Herman was born on June 2, 1923 at New York, New York to Henry H. and Mary Eleanor (Curran) Livingston. He lived in Manhattan, New York, and along the Hudson River. Herman served from March 12, 1944 to July 28, 1945 in the US Army Air Force as a B-17 pilot, flying 35 missions over Europe during World War II. Upon discharge from military service, he attended Yale University, graduating in June, 1948. Herman married Janet Harris January 12, 1957. He joined KILO Radio Station in Grand Forks and became the station manager in 1959. He joined the John C. Boe Co. as an insurance agent and became president of the company in 1972. He retired in June, 1988. Herman was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Forks, and served many offices in local community organizations including President of the VM 1000 Club, the Grand Forks Lions Club from which he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, and was a Life Member of the DAV. He is survived by his wife, Janet Livingston, Grand Forks; daughter, Laura Livingston, St. Paul, Minnesota and her children, Caitlin Madzo and Colin Madzo; a son, John H. Livingston (Kathy), Brookings, South Dakota and their children, Stephan Livingston, Skylar Livingston, and Mariah Livingston ; a brother, Henry H. Livingston (Maria), Hudson, New York; a sister, Eleanor M. Livingston, Boulder, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents. Military Honors: will be presented by DAV Chapter #2, Grand Forks. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church
