John Dunford

John Henry Dunford, 72, of Grand Forks, and formerly of Langdon, ND, died Saturday, September 22, 2007 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. John H. Dunford was born, May 6, 1935 in Langdon, ND the son of James and Mathilda (Dosmann) Dunford. He grew up and attended school in Langdon, ND. John served in the U.S. Army before marrying Betty Lou Wendt of June 8, 1957 in Langdon, ND. They lived in Langdon and owned and operated the Roxy Theater there for twenty years. John also worked as a bartender and club manager in Valley City, Hatton, Grafton, Cavalier and the MSR missile site at Nekoma , ND. He worked at Wendy's part time from 1998 until present. John was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2339 in Fergus Falls, MN and the American Legion Post #98 in Langdon, ND. John loved to dance, go to concerts and casinos. His greatest joy was his family, children and grandchildren. They always lit up his eyes and made him smile. John will be remembered for his warm smile, hugs, firm handshake, his sense of humor and making people laugh and smile. He was also a great story teller. John never met a stranger and was the greatest person you had ever met. He would go to KMART and have breakfast with his wife (Betty) the last couple of months before going to work at Wendy's. Fargo, North Dakota John loved his niece, nephew and grandniece as much as his children. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Brotten; brothers, James "Tom" and William; half brother, Stan; and half sister, Alice Marie Letofsky.
