John McGrath

John McGrath, 91, of Fargo, ND formerly of Grand Forks, ND passed away February 4, 2008 at the Palliative Care Center, MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND. John Henry McGrath was born on April 19, 1916 near Emerado, ND the son of Joseph John and Ida (Jacobson) McGrath. He grew up near Emerado and graduated from high school there. On July 12th, 1941 John married Lottie Raymond in Grand Forks, ND. John lived in Emerado from 1943 to 1953 working for Redwing Farms, the Myra Foundation and the Farmers Elevator of Emerado. In 1953 he moved to Honeyford, ND where he managed the Farmers Elevator until his retirement on Oct. 1, 1977. He and Lottie moved to Grand Forks and John lived there until November of 2003. Lottie passed away on Sept. 3, 2001. John was active with the Grand Forks Senior Citizens and was a member of the Eagles in East Grand Forks. In November of 2003 John moved to Fargo where he lived until his death. Family members who survive John are his sons Robert McGrath of Pearl, MS, Thomas (Lynne) McGrath of Minneapolis, MN, daughters Carol McGrath of Minneapolis, MN, Jean (Jarvis) Brosz of Fargo, ND, grandchildren Meredith McGrath, Michael (Tressa James) McGrath, Kenneth McGrath and Carrie McGrath, sisters Gertrude Anderson, Bernice Quirk and Lenore Gustafson all of Grand Forks, ND, Eileen Tracey of Champaign, IL, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding John in death are his parents, wife Lottie, brothers Leonard and Roy McGrath, sisters Della Rask and Marion Halvorson, infant twin sisters Fae and Mae, and daughter-in-law Marianne McGrath. BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE SPRING OF 2008.
