June Bjorneby

Kristin June Isfeld Bjorneby, 86, Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Valley Memorial Home Woodside Village, Grand Forks. Kristin June was born July 20, 1921 at Gardar ND, the daughter of Steingrimur Isfeld and Anna Katrin Stephansdottir. She attended Gardar School, graduating from high school there in 1939. She attended Mayville State Teachers' College and the University of North Dakota. Her teaching career spanned 29 years, beginning in Crystal, ND at the Lane School, then to Cavalier, Gardar, Park River, and Edinburg, ND. She retired in 1983. While still in high school, June began teaching Sunday school, and continued for forty years. She was also active as a Bible School teacher, 4-H leader and Rainbow Mother Advisor. June belonged to Edinburg's Trinity Lutheran Church, ALCW, Homemakers' Club, was a charter member of the Edinburg American Legion Auxiliary, Edinburg Historical Society, The Order of the Eastern Star, the Shrine Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary and various teachers' organizations. June married Paul Ellsworth Bjorneby in Redwood City, CA on January 26, 1947. They made their home in Glendale, CA, where June worked at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. They moved to Edinburg in 1951. Paul and June have two daughters: Kathryn Helen Fiedler, and Frances Kay (Mrs. Anten) Kraemer, one sister, Gudrun Ann Melsted of Wahpeton, and one brother, Johann Sigurdur Isfeld of Gardar. Paul and June moved to Grand Forks in 1986. They belong to Calvary Lutheran Church, and she worked at Sunflake preschool. June was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Bjorn Melsted; and sister-in-law, Katharine Isfeld. June is survived by her husband Paul, Grand Forks; daughters, Kathryn Fiedler, Grand Forks, Fran (Anten) Kraemer, Philadelphia, PA; sister, Ann Melsted, Wahpeton, ND; brother, Sigurd Isfeld, Gardar, ND; grandson, Paul (Amanda) Fiedler, Boulder, CO; granddaughter Ainsley Fiedler, St. Paul, MN; nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
