Laura Gust

Laura J. Gust, 68, Grand Forks, died Saturday, December 15, 2007 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, surrounded by her family. Laura was born to Melvin and Violet Jorgenson on May 1, 1939 in Grand Forks. She was raised and educated in Grand Forks. She married Howard Franz in 1958. They had 5 children, Lois, Lorrie, Dora, Howard and Sandra. She married John H. Gust on October 10, 1970. They had 3 children, Joy, Joan, and Bruce. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Laura was employed by Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center in Grand Forks for 10 years. She was a skilled homemaker and loved to cook. Her favorite activities were crafts, Bingo, swimming, and camping. Laura enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all and will never be forgotten. She is survived by her children, Lois (Tom) Sons, Indiana, Dora Franz, Grand Forks, Sandra (James) Scherer, Fargo, North Dakota, Joy (Kevin) Bloomquist, Grand Forks, Joan (Christopher) Haus, Manhattan, Kansas, and Bruce (Tina) Gust, Grand Forks; 27 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin, Robert, Kenneth, Melvin, William, and Mark Jorgenson; sisters, Margaret Fish, Donna Morrison, Katherine Gray, and Sara Hansen. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Lorrie Thrasher in 1995; a son, Howard Franz in 2005; and her husband, John H. Gust in 1996.
